Car history: |
1979 Corvette coupe, low mileage original southern car. Mileage of 86,731 is believed to be original. I have a clear Alabama title in my name, but car is too old to record mileage. Car was bought new in Memphis, TN and has spent it's life in Tennessee / North Alabama area. Original trim tag is still in place: Paint code 72L = Corvette Red, Trim code 722 = Red Leather, build date = I20 (April 20th, 1979)
Car runs and drives great. New parts include rebuilt rear trailing arm assemblies (Bair's Corvette) and 4 wheel alignment, 4 new shocks, new stainless steel brakes all the way around (with silicone brake fluid). Original carburetor was recently rebuilt. A new power steering pump and set of hoses were also recently installed. This car still has the original engine and transmission. Harmonic balancer was showing signs of wear, so it was replaced with a correct NOS balancer. Timing chain and gear set was replaced at the same time (wasn't necessary but I was already half way there).
The frame and passenger car compartment structure (birdcage) are solid, as you would expect on a nice southern car. Most of the paint on the car is original, with a few small touch up places here and there. Body seams are clean, indicating that this car has never had any serious damage. Headlight assemblies work great, and raise and lower as they should.
Interior is also original, and showing it's age. Carpet, seat covers, door panels, etc. are all worn. Carpet is torn and faded, but it is original.
The rally wheels are correctly dated for this car, with aftermarket trim rings and original center caps. The air conditioner does not work, and the factory AM/FM Cassette player also does not work. The spare tire carrier, with spare tire and carrier lock are also included.
I drive this car, and just finished a 20 mile trip before the photos were taken.
The car comes with the original power steering pump (which leaks), the original distributor housing (correctly dated, not sure why it was removed from the engine, it came with the car), the engine air intake duct work, exhaust shield, ignition shield, and a set of T-Top bags (which don't appear to be original, but came withn the car). Car has a non-stock exhaust, check your local laws regarding this issue.
